RECORDED TIME... SO FAR
Recorded Time is co-owned by Fiona Blair and Jackie Doyle. As co-directors we have produced two new documentaries for Channel 4’s Youtube “The Rise of Slapfighting” and “Puppy Farm Exposed”.
We have several ambitious projects in development, funded by NIS and UK broadcasters and are supported by Invest NI’s Ambition to Grow programme for female leaders. The Company participated in the BBC/NIS Hot House Initiative in 2025 and is delighted to have been selected by Channel 4 for the Emerging Indie Scheme 2026.
The company began life as Blair Black Films in March 2023. It’s first programme was the two part series “ON DRUGS” for BBCNI, which was shortlisted for the RTS journalism Awards 2025 in the Nations and Regions Factual Category , nominated for a Torc for Factual Series at the Celtic Media Festival Awards 2025 and most recently won “Best Factual Series” in the RTS Northern Ireland awards.
I EXPOSED THE UK’S BIGGEST PUPPY FARM
Our second digital documentary is for Channel 4’s “In Too Deep” strand is presented by animal advocate and TikTok influencer Kyle Thomas.
It reveals how nine hundred breeding dogs are registered at a single site in Northern Ireland. Some puppies from this farm are then transported for sale in England, exploiting a loophole in “Lucy’s Law” legislation. This law passed in England in 2020 but has never been brought into force in Northern Ireland. It was intended to shut down puppy farms.
Footage shows the industrial setting that dogs are kept in and Kyle takes his evidence direct to puppy buyers in the UK who are shocked to discover the truth.

THE RISE OF SLAPFIGHTING
Recorded Time’s first digital commission for Channel 4’s Uncovered sees comedian and combat sports-lover Elliot Steel get up-close to the growing and controversial sport of Slap Fighting.
Slap fighting is a sport in which two fighters alternate slapping one another as hard as they can in the hope of knocking their opponent (who is not allowed to block, dodge or even flinch) out.
As slap fighting leagues grow around the world, Elliot sets out to understand more about the sport which has received criticisms over safety. He meets stars of ‘Britslap’ and joins a fighter in training as he prepares for a big match. Elliot also attends his first slap fighting match and speaks to a scientist specialising in concussions in sport, as he asks whether slap fighting is the new combat sport for the TikTok generation or a vehicle for giving fighters brain injuries.

On Drugs
In our first two-part series for the BBC, On Drugs, Rory Carson presents an unflinching look at the lives of drug addicts in Northern Ireland. Filmed over 6 months in Northern Ireland the series shows the reality of life on drugs for young people – including the ripple effect of their addictions on family and friends and the long-term health consequences.
It reveals the fine line between using and dealing drugs and shows just how hard it is to quit, when drug use is what binds your friendship group together.
On Drugs broadcast in October 2024 but is no longer available on iPlayer. It won the RTS Northern Ireland award for Best Factual series 2025. For distribution or screening inquiries please contact Recorded Time.
